Have you ever wondered how different your life would be if you pursued a STEM degree? Well, there are many positives and negatives to it. So, you just have to decide which factors outweigh the others. For instance, the STEM field is currently growing, so getting a job is almost guaranteed in the next few years. Also, satisfaction rates are increasing for people who have decided to pursue this degree. However, some people make the mistake of pursuing STEM too late in their lives, which in return, set them back a few years.

As mentioned before, people are satisfied with choosing a STEM degree. One reason for this is the impact that it has on society. For example, medicine and technology are used by people every day in order to help them live better lives. Additionally, STEM jobs are filled with diverse people who get to decide how flexible their schedules are. Imagine that – being able to work a career you enjoy and one that suits your schedule! Compared to other degrees, STEM degrees have been found to have much more freedom of time. Lastly, STEM classes that students take increase their critical thinking skills which will benefit them later on in their life.

Although there are many positives in choosing a STEM degree, there are also negatives. Since there are people who prefer having strict deadlines and rules, this degree wouldn’t work best for them. On top of the serious decision to pursue a STEM degree, it can be very costly in the long-run. Also, a student’s aspired job may not get guaranteed. If people decide to start late, as mentioned before, they may have an increased financial burden. To close up, there isn’t a standardized curriculum for many STEM majors, so it may not suit every student’s preference.

In summary, choosing a degree isn’t that simple; however, knowing what to expect can be very beneficial. STEM degrees aren’t meant for everyone, but the positives definitely outweigh the negatives. So, will you decide to pursue a STEM degree?
